Dr.Sanand Ratnam Thekkayil

Dr.Sanand Ratnam Thekkayil is the Chief Medical Officer of Sree Subramanya Ayurvedic Nursing Home (SSANH) in Calicut, Kerala. A pioneer in Ayurvedic practice and research, his mission is to make Ayurveda more accessible to common man and to promote it as mainstream medicine. He effortlessly combines ancient Ayurveda wisdom inherited from his forefathers and the modern scientific advancements, creating a perfect holistic blend to effectively treat chronic ailments. His specialization is Rheumatology and he is a Member of the prestigious British Society for Rheumatology. The increasing number of testimonies from happy patients demonstrate his success and expertise in treatment of these debilitating ailments.

Dr Ratnam hails from the Thekkayil family, one of the oldest and most revered Ayurvedic families in Kerala with a 400 year old lineage in Ayurveda. His great grandfather Sri Thekkayil Achuthan Vydiar was the leading Ayurvedic practitioner of his time. He learned Sanskrit and the basics of Ayurveda at a very early age from his father Sri Thekkayil Rajaratnam Vydiar. He then earned a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery from the Dr M.G.R. Medical University in Chennai. Following that, he earned his Master’s degree in Ayurveda from Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College. He also holds a Post graduate diploma in Hospital Management.

He is a frequent visitor to London and the UK for consulting with patients and for conferences. He is a Member of the Ayurvedic Practitioners Association in UK. He is also a regular presenter at the annual conference of the British Society for Rheumatology.  He has  attended and presented papers in many other prestigious national and international conferences as well.

A family man with two young children, he participates in many community activities. He is also a member of the Rotary Club of Calicut South.
